What does PocketResume do?

PocketResume is a free Chrome extension that tailors your resume to any job description in one click. You paste your master resume once, open any job posting, and PocketResume rewrites your experience with that posting's keywords, then downloads a print-ready PDF. It also fills application forms, writes cover letters, and scores your resume's ATS-readiness.

How many people use PocketResume?

4,000+ job seekers use PocketResume each week, as of October 2026. It is free to install, open source, and your resume stays in your browser.

Is PocketResume free?

Yes. The extension is free to install, and resume generation costs nothing beyond your own AI usage. You bring your own AI key (Gemini, OpenAI, Anthropic, OpenRouter, or a free local model via Ollama), so you pay your provider directly, often pennies per resume, or nothing at all with local models. Tailored resumes, cover letters, Check ATS, Refine Resume, and resume cloud sync are all free. An optional Pro plan adds the full Job Tracker and the AI form filler for $5 per month, with a 7-day free trial.

Is PocketResume safe to use? Where does my data go?

Your API keys and resume profiles are stored locally in your browser. Nothing goes anywhere except direct calls to the AI provider you chose. PocketResume never uploads your resume to its own servers. Cloud sync is optional, runs on PocketResume's own Clerk-authenticated Convex backend, and stays off until you sign in and turn it on.

Will AI-generated resumes get flagged by ATS or recruiters?

PocketResume is built to avoid AI slop. It rewrites emphasis and keywords from the posting but uses your resume as the only source of facts, so it never invents employers, seniority, or metrics. The built-in Check ATS tool scores your resume against common ATS parser issues and suggests specific fixes, and Refine Resume shows before/after ATS scores so you can see what changed.

How does the AI form filler work?

When you hit an application form with essay questions like 'Why are you a great fit?', PocketResume reads the form, cross-checks every field against your master resume, and drafts answers in your voice: first person, plain words, no AI tells. It never submits or overwrites anything, so you review every answer and hit submit yourself.

Which AI providers does PocketResume support?

Google Gemini, OpenAI (GPT-4o-mini), Anthropic (Claude 3.5 Haiku), OpenRouter, and any custom or local OpenAI-compatible endpoint, including Ollama, LM Studio, NVIDIA NIM, and Groq. With a local model like Ollama, the entire loop runs offline on your machine.

What resume layouts are included?

Four: Professional (clean and traditional), FAANG (metrics-forward, with numbers leading each bullet), Double sided (a dense two-column layout), and Academic CV (full publication history). You pick the layout per application, and every layout exports as a clean, print-ready PDF.

What is PocketResume Pro?

PocketResume Pro is an optional single plan that adds the full Job Tracker and the AI form filler for $5 per month, or $4.16 per month when billed yearly. It includes a 7-day free trial. Everything else, including tailored resume generation, cover letters, Check ATS, Refine Resume, and resume cloud sync, is free.

Does PocketResume work with LinkedIn and Indeed?

Yes. PocketResume works on any job posting you can open in your browser, including LinkedIn, Indeed, Glassdoor, and company careers pages. It's a Chrome extension, so it also runs in other Chromium browsers like Edge, Brave, and Arc.
