Privacy Policy
The short version: your keys and resumes stay in your browser, and cloud sync is optional.
Last updated September 1, 2026
PocketResume is a browser extension designed to keep your personal data under your control. This policy explains, in plain language, what the extension does with your information.
What we store and where
- Your resume profiles and AI API keys are stored in your browser's local storage on your own device.
- We do not upload your resume or your API keys to PocketResume servers.
- If you use a local AI model (for example via Ollama or LM Studio), your data does not leave your machine at all.
AI processing
When you generate a resume or form answers, the extension sends the relevant text directly from your browser to the AI provider you configured (for example Google, OpenAI, Anthropic, or a self-hosted endpoint). Your use of that provider is governed by that provider's own privacy policy.
Optional cloud sync
Cloud sync is off by default. If you choose to enable it, your master profiles are stored on PocketResume's backend (authenticated via Clerk and hosted on Convex) so they can follow you across devices. You can disable it at any time.
Website analytics
This marketing website uses privacy-friendly, aggregate analytics (Vercel Analytics and Speed Insights) to understand which pages are useful. We do not sell your data or use it to build advertising profiles.
Your control
- You can clear all locally stored data at any time by clearing your browser storage for the extension.
- You can turn cloud sync on or off from Settings → Account & Cloud Sync.
- Because the extension is open source, you can audit exactly how data is handled.
